Hospital provides an important setting for the training of undergraduate students of Medicine. Muhammad College of Medicine has its own 500 bed Muhammad Teaching Hospital (MTH) located near ring road flyover Main GT Road Peshawar. MTH is a state of the art and fully equipped teaching hospital, having all the necessary facilities required for the clinical teaching/training of students and providing effective and affordable health care to the community. The teaching staff of the hospital is highly qualified and well experienced in their respective specialties. For clinical seminars / discussions and presentations there are separate lecture theatres .MTH has its own library having a good collection of books and latest periodicals, for students and teaching staff. Transport facility is also provided to the students from campus to hospital.

Clinical skills, techniques of assessing the health of communities, evaluation of health services and development of effective approaches to health care are introduced progressively through the course. During the last three years, the students are assigned to participate in the work of clinical teams in the Muhammad Teaching Hospital.

Clinical methods are taught and demonstrated from the third year onward. The students practice skills by taking medical history, observing clinical phenomena and performing complete and accurate physical examination are essential requisites. Students learn about diseases through actively participating in patient diagnosis and investigations, clarifying concepts of pathos-physiological basis of the diseases. During the fourth year and fifth year, students are attached by the rotation in Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics , Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry.

General Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, Nephrology, Anaesthesiology, Medicine, ENT, Ophthalmology, Gynaecology, PEADS and Dermatology. Experience is gained also in the community health science. Experience in ENT, Ophthalmology, Dermatology and Primary care is gained I in both out and indoor patient departments. Students are also encouraged to actively participate in small group discussion, in presentation of clinical cases. Emphasis is given to the acquisition of essential clinical skills in psychiatry including interviewing.

Patient’s examination, diagnosis, treatment methods and additional opportunities for learning about clinical practice are provided through clinical seminars, departmental meetings, student’s presentation and tutorials. The hospital provides the students with the opportunities for development of knowledge, skills and attitude in the care of children in both hospital and community settings. Emphasis is placed on health promotion/ disease prevention, and curative aspects of children’s health problems.
